Secretaries Newsletter

A happy New year to all. This is my first newsletter of 2012 and let's hope that the incoming year is a successful one for all at Falls.

The big news this month is that Eddie McNally has been nominated by us for Vice President of the Private Greens in 2013 and President in 2014. As you know Eddie is a very well known  and respected figure in the world of bowls. I don't propose to list his past achievements. There isn't room on the website. At present he is our representative to the PG and the IBA and serves on the F&GP Committee of the PG.Congratulations Eddie.

Congratulations also to Brian Smith on his appointment as Club Captain for the next 2 years. Brian has a long history of service to our club, mainly in the management  of the social club and it is these skills along with his other talents that he will bring to the bowling teams.

Well we have turned the corner of winter remarkably unscathed and there is a long stretch in the nights. The green has never looked so well at this time of year until large black spots started to appear. Peter assures me that there is nothing to worry about. I trust him.

Opening Day is now on the horizon. March 31st.   Time to get your blazer down to the cleaners to avoid the rush, polish your black shoes and wait expectantly for the President's invatation.

In the meantime this site will be going down for its annual springclean about the middle of February and will return for testing i seactain na gaelige when Gerry will once again be speaking in tongues. Normal service, with all the draws, an explaination of Home and Away for the weekenders only, and more from me, will be in the week before Opening Day
